Babinda Library Temporary Closure for Building Works
Why is Babinda Library being closed?
Babinda Library will temporarily close for planned internal works, allowing for essential repairs on the building floor. The library closure will ensure the safety of our customers and staff while the building works are carried out.
How long will the Babinda Library be closed?
Babinda Library will be closed for 7 days from Monday 3 August 2026 – Sunday 9 August 2026 and will reopen on Monday 10 August 2026.
Will there be any disruptions to library services during the building works?
Yes, the Babinda Library will be closed from 03 – 08 August 2026. Collections, spaces, computers, Wi-Fi and programs will not be available or accessible during this period.
During the closure, you can return your items anytime using the book return bin, located near the front entrance of Babinda Library, to the right-hand side of the building. This is accessible 24/7. You’re also welcome to return items at any of our other branches or at the drop-off point at DFO Shopping Centre, Westcourt.
We encourage you to visit our other library branches and to explore our comprehensive Digital Library (online books, audiobooks, movies, magazines, newspapers and more), and/or use our online catalogue to reserve items for collection at the other library branches.
Everyone is welcome to join in any of the many programs and events at other library branches.

Will I be able to return library items to Babinda Library while it is closed?
Yes, the book return bin will remain available 24/7 located near the front entrance of Babinda Library, to the right-hand side of the building. This will be emptied twice during the closure.
You’re also welcome to return items at any of our other branches or at the drop-off point at DFO Shopping Centre, Westcourt.
What will happen to the Babinda Library staff during the building works?
Babinda Library staff will be redeployed to other library branches during the temporary closure.
How can I contact Babinda Library during building works?
Babinda Library will be temporarily unavailable for contact commencing Monday 3 August 2026, until reopening on Monday 10 August, however, our staff at other branches will be more than happy to assist you.

What will happen to my reservations I've already placed to collect at Babinda Library?
You can pick up your reservations at Babinda Library until Saturday 1 August 2026 at 12pm. All other reservations will be processed when Babinda Library reopens.
You may choose to change your pickup location to another branch during this time. You can update your pickup location via My Account on the online catalogue or ask one of our friendly staff to help you.

Select ‘options’ > Edit reservation
Use the drop down pick-up location options and select from our 7 other branches.

What happens to regularly scheduled programming, including First 5 Forever, while Babinda Library is closed?
All scheduled programs at Babinda Library will be paused from Monday 3 August until Sunday 9 August 2026. Everyone is welcome to join in any of the many programs and events at other library branches.
