The Zhanjiang Chinese Literature Collection

This exquisite collection of books was generously donated by Cairns Sister City Zhanjiang to celebrate the history and culture of China. In completing this project special thanks and acknowledgement must go to:

• The State Library of Queensland
• The Cairns & District Chinese Association
• The Friends of Cairns Libraries
• The Historical Society of Cairns

The Collection is currently shared between the City and Earlville Libraries and consists of approx 1500 volumes covering areas such as:

• Biographies of ancient and modern Chinese scholars, writers and artists
• Works on art and sculpture
• Collecting furniture, fans, coins etc
• Calligraphy
• Designs for art work, ceramics & embroidery
• Ancient lions and dragons
• Works by Mao Zedong
• History and travel of China
• Modern classical literature
• Modern fiction
• Children’s books

All books are in simplified Chinese characters
