Cairns Libraries provides free access for members to online subscription databases covering a wide range of topics. Most are accessible from any pc, using your library card number as the pasword. Note that some of the databases can only be accessed within the library.

Yourtutor is Australia's leading online academic tutoring servics, providing live tutors using a msn style system along with shared web browser, white board for drawing out problems, and FTP capability to send documents back and forth. This service provides tutoring in the areas of math, sciences, english and study skills for years 4-12. Students can login for free Monday to Friday 4-8pm using their library card. The State Library of Queensland provides over 30 remote access databases including Health and Wellness Resource Centre, Encyclopedia Britannica, TumbleBooks, JSTOR, Gale Virtual Reference Library, Lexis Nexis, Oxford Reference Online, Proquest Science, Science and Geography Education, and the Times Digital Archive to name a few. You can even read through over 200 of today's newspapers from around the world in full colour, full pages with the database, Library Press Display!
